  • 1.     Ми використовуємо USED TO + Infinitive, коли говоримо про речі, яуі були правдою в минулому, але зараз не є правдою.
  •  
  • -         I used to learn French but now I learn English.
  •  
  • 2.      Також ми використовуємо USED TO для того, щоб зробити порівняння. Крім фрази USED TO всі дієслова будуть стояти в Present Simple.
  •  
  • -         Now I live in Kyiv. I used to live in Lviv.
  •  
  • 3.     Коли ми не порівнюємо, а говоримо про те, що було в минулому використовуємо USED TO.
  •  
  • -         When I lived on a farm, I used to ride my horse every day.
  •  
  • 4.     Щоб утворити питальне або заперечне речення ми використовуємо did/didn’t +use to :
  •  
  • -         Didn’t you use to play “hide-and-seek” in your childhood?

Text 1  “ Edinburgh Festival” The post war years have seen a great growth in the number of art festivals in Britain and other European countries. Among them the Edinburgh International Festival is one of the best known events of its kind in the world. This is not surprising because everything in the arts, if it is the first class, becomes an Edinburgh Festival attraction. On most evenings during the festival there are as many as six events to choose from on the official programme: symphony concerts, ballets, plays, recitals all given by the finest artists of the world.
